Teal Slough, Washington
 

Teal Slough Teal Slough is a magnificent coastal stand of old-growth western redcedar. This 331-acre forest and salt marsh supports a diverse wildlife population including the marbled murrelet, northern spotted owl, amphibians, Roosevelt elk and a host of waterfowl and shorebird species. The Hancock Timber Resource Group recognized the significance of preserving this vital estuary, and with funding from The Nature Conservancy and The Paul G. Allen Forest Protection Foundation in 1999, and through cooperation of the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, Teal Slough will become part of the Willapa National Wildlife Refuge.
